Miguel Ángel López Marcos studied a degree in Prehistory and Archaeology at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (1987) and a degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at the Archaeology Department of the ESCRBC in Madrid (1987).

He is a professional restorer and archaeologist with more than 35 years of experience in the development and application of technical solutions in the prospection, excavation and documentation of archaeological sites.

Biography

Miguel Ángel López Marcos studied a degree in Prehistory and Archaeology at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (1987) and a degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at the Archaeology Department of the ESCRBC in Madrid (1987). He is a professional restorer and archaeologist with more than 35 years of experience in the development and application of technical solutions in the prospection, excavation and documentation of archaeological sites, as well as the reconstruction and conservation of archaeological and monumental heritage, for its musealisation both in Spain and outside Spain in Italy, Morocco and Egypt. Miguel Ángel has directed or participated in more than 75 research projects at numerous sites both in Spain and abroad, including his work at pre-Roman forts, medieval castles, Roman and pre-Roman settlements, Chalcolithic sites, Phoenician necropolises, Visigothic settlements, etc. His work in Egypt is also notable for the variety of sites and the application of different techniques and working dynamics: study and reconstruction of the Colossi of Memnon and Amenhotep III at Kom el-Hettan (2004-2020), work at the craftsmen's village of Deir el-Medina (2007), participation in the work on the Red Pyramid of Snefru at Dashur (2003-2005), study and work on the Temple of the Valley of the Bent Pyramid of Snefru (2003-2005) and archaeological excavation and restoration at Heracleopolis Magna (2000-2002), restoration and museum work on the Middle Kingdom Theban Project in Luxor (2023).
