Ali Hassan is a restorer and civil servant in the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities. He has worked in restoration since 1996, when he started with the Metropolitan Museum in Dashur where he worked until 2014.
He has worked at the tomb of Nespakashuti at Luxor, at the pyramid of Snefru, with the German Institute at Dashur, at the Temple of Seti I at Qurna, at Dra Abu el-Naga, at the Temple of Kom Ombo, and at the Italian Mission at Siwa, among many other archaeological missions.
Biography
Ali Hassan is a restorer and civil servant in the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities. He has worked in restoration since 1996, when he started with the Metropolitan Museum in Dashur where he worked until 2014.
He has worked at the tomb of Nespakashuti at Luxor, at the pyramid of Snefru, with the German Institute at Dashur, at the Temple of Seti I at Qurna, at Dra Abu el-Naga, at the Temple of Kom Ombo, and at the Italian Mission at Siwa, among many other archaeological missions.
He has been working steadily on the SACP project since 2006. One of his main contributions is his work on the Temple of Amenhotep III at Kom el-Hettan, where he has been working since 2000.
He has worked on reconstructions such as the Northern Gate reconstruction of the Temple of Amenhotep III between 2010 and 2012.
Since 2015 he has been working on the restoration of the Temple of Luxor, including the reconstruction of the colossi of the First Pylon. He has also participated in the reconstruction of the seated colossus of Thutmosis II at the Temple of Karnak.
In 2023 he led the restoration team of the Temple of Ramesses II at Abydos, and participated in the work of rearranging the blocks of the Temple of Tod.
